From the recording First Flight 101
This song is a collection of thoughts reminiscent of a time in Statia's life when things were much less complicated; simpler, easier peaceful times. Statia has dedicated Marmalade Skies to her uncle Kerry and his garage where she first discovered her love for music and performance, and to her grandma’s cooking and family she left behind in Belleville, Ontario.
Dear diary,
I haven’t written in a couple years
And I’d like to get a couple things off my chest
You know, I’d like to say I’m sorry
For all the times that, ah, I didn’t make you smile
I’m sorry I didn’t pick up the phone
But I’m here now
And I’m coming back home
I've been gone for years
Leaving nothing but letters full of tears
How will I ever know
when it's time to go home
You always use to say
I'd never come back
But I changed my ways
Like I always ...
Saw your name in the sand
So I skipped a rock ‘n headed right
Back to where I began
In marmalade skies
In marmalade
Won't you butter my bread n biscuit
Won't you fill my glass full
But I need it done from someone I know...
Someone from back home
Now that the war is over
Not just the one that's fighting in our hearts
Soon we'll make it all better
And end up right back at the very start
In marmalade skies
In marmalade
Won't you butter my bread n biscuit
Won't you fill my glass full
But I need it done from someone I know...
Someone from back home
Now that the war is over
Not just the one that's fighting in our hearts
Soon we'll make it all better
And end up right back at the very start
In marmalade skies
In marmalade
Won't you butter my bread n biscuit
Won't you fill my glass full
But I need it done from someone I know...
Someone from back home
