Maggie's Song is the song that built a national charity, Birdsong New Music Foundation. David Martin wrote this beautiful and loving song for his mom as a Christmas Gift in 2016. David would not live to see another Christmas, losing his struggle with mental illness nine months after first playing this song for his mother, Margaret Konopacki, around the Christmas table. A year later, struggling for a way to deal with her grief, Margaret founded Birdsong with the goal of helping people with the diagnosis of mental illness who, like David, loved music, songwriting and performance.
