From the recording First Flight 101
This song was inspired by a group of girls she met in her small town Church and the bond they developed. In the years that followed, Ashley and her tight knit group of best girlfriends would support each other through many hardships, including a serious brain injury Ashley suffered as the result of a car accident. Home is an anthem to loyalty and friendship.
It does not surprise me,
One bit, that we met in a place of worship
Patient, kind, and level-headed
And we know each other's laughter
Cornerstone friendships
Are the ones that bear the weight of twisted fate
And make us wanna go home
Yeah, we started in different places and still wound up facing
Things we should not on our own
It doesn’t matter where were headed right now
When or how
We’ll figure it out
I’ll meet you there
I’ll meet you there
With beauty raw and timeless
It's so easy to apply the face that’s needed
Settling in and holding
The empty spaces that need all the filling
Lay that down, it's not needed here
Lets just hide on higher ground
Nowhere to be found
Let’s just go home
Yeah, we started in different places and still wound up facing
Things we should not on our own
It doesn’t matter where were headed right now
When or how
We’ll figure it out
We have everything we need after all these years
Not keeping track of laughter and tears
Still staying up late, just talkin’ ‘bout dreams and fears
Our hearts have the same…
Home…I’ll meet you there
Home
Yeah, we started in different places and still wound up facing
Things we should not on our own
It doesn’t matter where were headed right now
When or how
We’ll figure it out
It does not surprise me,
One bit, that we met in a place of worship
